Welcome Homesteading Lifestylers!

The Autumnal Equinox came and went on September 21st.
So–just as they have done for centuries, I presume that the agrarian peoples around the globe have been celebrating their harvests and given thanks to their various ancestors, elementals, Gods and spirits that have made their human lives on the planet possible. Likewise, when October comes bursting onto the scene, with trees adorned in reds, oranges, yellows, and golds – festive souls will again join in the hoopla of Halloween and beer guzzling German Oktober Festers (to name only a few) will do their happy polka thing.
But it seems to me as if earthly events have recently out-performed and over shadowed the natural order of festivities. There are, indeed, wars and rumors of wars…And killings.
So what do we do about this? If we still have a paying job and a family to raise do we ignore the gale warning flags and soldier on—or baton down the hatches?
Well, of course… We Keep on Keeping on!
If you have perused the early pages of this blog-site, you will know that I went “back to the land” in West Virginia in 1978-9 and lived six years in a stone root cellar without electricity or running water.
It was a wonderful period of my life but, I confess, six years was long enough! We were now building a much more conventional home and I was pregnant! It was December and our project for the day was to complete the installation of a submersible water pump that would supply water to our house on the hill. It was a muddy, sloppy job. And cold. There were no real doors on the new house, just blankets held up with nails. Winter time was fast approaching and weather, as usual, was unpredictable.
But, as we finished in the mud, and went back to the cellar—I put my foot down and told my Beloved—Now! We are moving NOW. So we loaded up the truck, packed up this and that, and up the hill we went, ready to start a new day and we Kept On, Keeping On!
